This 30 Day post has been making rounds amongst the military spouse bloggers. I personally got it from One Lucky Monkey, who got it from Mr. Superman and Mrs. S, Dog Tags and Pearls, A lot 'o Curls and a High & Tight, and Just to Breath You In I am Satisfied.

Day One, Favorite Song: Sorry guys, this is gonna be a little bit of a longer post, lol. There's no way I can pick just one. To ask anyone to choose one song is difficult, to ask a singer is nearly impossible. So by category...
Favorite Hymn - The video is a bit yuck, but this is one of my favorite versions

My Favorite Praise & Worship Song - We used to attend church with the woman who wrote this

Okay, I could go on, but I'll spare y'all. :) Hope you enjoyed the peek into me.

Apologies, Recap & Awesome Blogging Community

Friday, June 11, 2010

Hey everyone! I've been really sporadic about my posts on here, and the other 2 blogs. Have no fear, I'm not burning out already, and I haven't been ill. I'm visiting my family, and our church here has been doing a week-long marriage conference.

Now contrary to popular belief, you don't have to have an endangered marriage to attend a conference. And isn't it better to learn how to protect your marriage before there's an issue, rather than after? I took my first step in getting ahead of the game when I read Gary Chapman's 5 Love Languages. When this conference came up, I got excited! For starters, I love our pastor, but I thought it was awesome that a marriage conference was the week before my anniversary.

So to make up for the inconsistent posts, I'll be participating in a 30 Day post that's been making rounds amongst the military spouses. (Who will be credited on the 1st of those posts. :) )

Speaking of military spouses. I ran across an awesome blogging community at Household 6 Diva. She's got it broken down between military spouses, and military supportive. Check her out, she also has a great article on OPSEC & PERSEC.

Random Dozen #1

It's Wednesday, so time to enjoy some random craziness thanks to Lid @ 2nd-cup-of-coffee.

Here are your questions for this week:

1. Would you rather host party or simply attend a party? I would be too concerned that I forgot something vital, so I'd probably be less stressed just attending.

2. Tell us about the most memorable party you've been to. Probably the birthday/costume party I went to when I was younger. I was in an awesome Cleopatra costume that my Mom made me.

3. What is one thing you hope for in the after-life? To still be with my family.

4. What do you enjoy most about sunshine? I love the warm cozy feeling when it's on your shoulders in springtime.

5. When you attend a bridal/baby shower, do you prefer to bring your own gift or chip in with others to buy a larger gift? I prefer to bring my own gift.

6. Would you rather have a FREE week of having your house cleaned or all of your meals cooked for you and your family? It's awkward having someone else clean for me, so I'd definitely choose the cooking.

7. What song describes your mood today? Most People I Know (Think That I'm Crazy)

8. What is something you received for your own bridal shower/wedding that you still own or use? (If you are not married, feel free to sub a gift you received a long time ago.) I still own all the racy underwear from the bridal shower..wait wait come back!!! I was married less than a year ago. Okay, I'm sorry...you didn't want to hear about my underroos....okay I still have the crystal vase from my wedding. Better?

9. Your favorite flavor of ice cream is? Depends on my mood...sometimes Rocky Road, sometimes Banana Split.

10. When was the last time you felt "tested?" Oh gosh...dealing with a court case, and being a new Mom again, and a husband overseas??? Uhmm I'll take "Every Day" for 200, Alex.

11. "Anything my Mom makes is a food that once I start eating I find really hard to stop."

12. "Family" is the best motivation.

Men's Meme Monday - Overprotectiveness

Men's Monday Meme

Monday has arrived, so we are starting our week by joining the Men's Meme at Families Again. Each week, they post a question, that we ladies may post on behalf of our men, but the man must be the one to answer. My beloved Gunlover adores all things Irish, so his answers will be posted in green. :) My love is still overseas, so we're discussing this over Skype. As things need clarified, I'll notate my additions to the discussion, but I won't answer the question or put in my 2 cents.

On with the question! Are we being overprotective? Are we so cautious that we have lost sight of what it means to be kind and generous and outgoing with one another? Are all of the warnings correct or have we become a worrisome society? Or, should we be more wary these days? Have times changed and there is no going back? What are your thoughts?

I think we're overprotective on some aspects of life, and others not so much. We need to find a happy medium.
(me) Could you clarify that? In what areas are we over protective?
Overprotecting children from driving..like parents who won't help their children get drivers licenses.
(me) Okay, so on the main post, she discusses a woman who wants to have "Leave Your Kids At the Park Saturday" where you just drop the kiddos off for 30 minutes, and leave them alone. No keeping an eye on them or anything. Your take?
I think she's retarded. You don't leave your kids alone at park these days. This day and age there's a lot of people who'd enjoy them...a lot of pedophiles.
(me) Also on this post there was a woman who refused to give an older woman a ride, because she didn't know her. Do you think age warrants rides and favors, or is a stranger still a stranger?
A stranger is still a stranger. No offense to old ladies, but they can be pretty crazy, and there's some of them packing heat these days. (me roflol cause no I have the image of Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies)
(me) Alright last question...I promise! You gave a situation where parents can still be overprotective. What scenarios are parents not protective enough?
Stuff they let their kids see, and listen to.

Re-Formatting Our Blog

Monday, May 24, 2010

Gunlover & I apologize for the lack of anything recent on this blog. He's been very busy overseas, and I've been equally busy preparing to fight for Jewel. Also, our themes we chose, while quite fun, were tedious to keep up with. On that note, we are reorganizing the format, to post 3x a week, rather than daily.
